Health and fitness. What is the difference?
Now, let's
begin with health.
Health is a
person's total state of well-being. Yet it has four different aspects.
Our physical consists of our body and the functionality of our biological systems
There is the social element
that determines the effectiveness of our interpersonal relationships and our
teaming abilities
We all have emotions,
or an emotional side to us, which affects how we act and feel about things.
Finally, we
have our mental component, which refers to the caliber of our thinking
and how effective our decisions are. Our emotions or emotional part refers to
how we feel about what we're doing and how we handle ourselves.
Okay, so it's
the overall well-being—physically, socially, psychologically, and emotionally.
We can go
over to the other side now and take a look at fitness.
Fitness is
more related to just the physical part and it's called the fulfilling the
needs of the environment.
Currently,
the environment is always changing in our employment, lifestyle,
interests, and pastimes. Yet, the demands that the environment places on our bodies
can be considered fit as long as we are able to do so without being physically
exhausted.
Therefore,
the question should be: Are we fit for high-level, high-intensity,
fatigue-inducing environments? Since there are four components to good health,
the answer should be:
Are we fit for what we need to do to satisfy
the demands of the environment?
